Something has gotten into me since owning a home where everything has to have a place and if it doesn’t, it stresses me out. Our laundry room was one place that made me stressed when I walked into it. Of course, there is usually always laundry in baskets needing to be folded. But that wasn’t the worst part. It was the package of dryer sheets, the bottle of laundry detergent, the box of Biz detergent, color catchers, and the list goes on. It was just spread out all over the dryer. Was it functional??? Maybe. Was it pretty?? Not so much!!

It was a mess! And you can’t look past all those eggs we used to get(RIP to our chickens). This room was majorly lacking some organization.

Much better right!?? Now that’s a room I want to do a little laundry in!
Alright, so here’s how we did it…
First, I made a list of all the products I use regularly. For me it was a liquid detergent, a powder detergent, dryer sheets, dryer balls, stain remover and color catchers. For you it might look a little different.
Next, I figured out what type of containers I would need for each product. For the liquid detergent, I knew I wanted something that easily could dispense the liquid. That’s when I came up with the idea to use a drink dispenser. But most of our drink dispensers are glass and as a mom of 3, glass mixed with laundry detergent is not something I ever want to clean up off the floor if it should ever fall and break. I was able to find a plastic drink dispenser at Target and it even had a little gold dispenser…PERFECT!! I did have one concern about the drink dispenser dripping detergent down onto the washer so I found this Arm and Hammer cup caddy to put under the dispenser and let the cup rest on and it works perfect!
The powder detergent, dryer sheets and color catchers were each small enough I could use the glass canisters with wood lids, also from Target.
I still had the stain remover and the dryer balls left to figure out. My stain remover I use is called Tech (it’s seriously amazing!!)and it actually doesn’t even come in a spray bottle, which I am not sure why. I wanted to be in a spray bottle but didn’t want a colorful one. I was able to find this clear spray bottle on Amazon. And the dryer balls needed a canister but the ones I found from target didn’t look big enough. I was able to find this glass canister at Bed, Bath and Beyond.
My favorite part of this whole update though is these labels!! I was able to find these on Etsy and they could customize the names for things that aren’t as common, such as color catchers and wool dryer balls. Once my containers came, I filled them all up and stuck the labels on and instantly loved it!! Now our laundry room feels clean, organized and modern and makes me actually want to do laundry!!!
