Our garage mudroom was previously an instant source of anxiety for both of us with it’s lack of organization and function. And because we had to walk through this space every time we have to enter our home, we decided to give this space a major transformation! Here’s a before shot of the space…

We needed some hidden storage so we built custom cabinets spanning 8′ in height for the large cabinets using 3/4″ plywood and painted these Cast Iron by Sherwin Williams. We also added a butcher block countertop, peel and stick flooring, and brushed brass hardware to give this space a modern update!

On the wall opposite the cabinets, we needed a drop zone for the kids shoes, backpacks and coats. We built a bench with cubbies below and above as well as some hooks on the wall. We also painted this the color Cast Iron which tied the space together and now feels like an extension of our home.

This space went from being a space of instant stress to a space of calm and feels like an extension of our house!
