Welcome to our blog, Ellington Home! We are Brad and Amanda, a husband and wife team who can’t seem to put the power tools down and leave well enough alone. We bought a 1902 farmhouse in 2012 and have been modernizing it the do-it-yourself way ever since. What started out as a frugal way for us as a young, married couple to furnish our home, turned into “what can we build or demo next??!” And that’s pretty much been our life for the last 10 years. Oh yes, and we have 4 beautiful children who we love dearly and we let get involved in the fun. Life can be hard at times, we get busy and occasionally stressed with the grind of our jobs and daily responsibilities. What we’ve realized is that when we are in the middle of a project, we are in our happy place. Because we spend a majority of our time in our home, we love creating spaces in our home that bring us peace and calmness. Let us show you how you can do that same in your home!
Ok, so enough about us!! I want to share with you why we started this blog.
We frequently have people ask us how we manage to DIY virtually everything we’ve done to our home. We usually just figure it out as we go and thanks to Brad and his problem solving abilities, we’ve been able to figure most things out on our own. We want to share in detail more of how we do the projects we do. Our goal here is to inspire and teach you how to DIY projects you didn’t think possible and to give you the confidence to pick up those power tools and start building!! If we can do it, so can you!!
