I’ve been on the hunt for months for the perfect bedroom lights for our girls bunk room as well as the baby’s nursery we are beginning to design. There are so many aspects to take into consideration when choosing lighting for your room.
One important question to ask, is this the only source of light? If so, I try to pick a fixture with multiple bulbs for more light output as well as a light without a lot of enclosure around the bulbs. Too much enclosure can cast some unpleasant shadows around the room. I absolutely love the look of the rattan lights but because our bedrooms do not have other lights (such as can lights), we have to be a little more selective on what we choose.
Another question to ask, will this light be walked directly under? If not and it will be above the foot of the bed for instance, you can get by with choosing a light that hangs a little lower. If it will be walked under, you have to take into consideration the ceiling height and make sure it won’t be an issue with anyone hitting their head. Our bedroom ceilings are 8′ high and most of our lights will be walked directly under, so that limits us a little further on what lights we can choose.
