Welcome to our blog, Ellington Home! We are Brad and Amanda, a husband and wife team who can’t seem to put the power tools down and leave well enough alone. We bought a 1902 farmhouse 11 years ago and have been modernizing it the do-it-yourself way ever since. What started out as a frugal way for two young, married and broke kids to furnish and remodel their home, turned into “what can we build or demo next??!” And that’s pretty much been our life for the last 10 years. Oh yes, and the best part of our last 10 years is we have 3 beautiful daughters who we love dearly. We’ve realized when we are in the middle of a project, we are in our happy place…and we realized a little sawdust gives us our sanity!!
Ok, so enough about us!! I want to share with you why we started this blog.
Our goal here is to inspire and teach you how to DIY projects you didn’t think possible and to give you the confidence to pick up those power tools and start building!! We’ve spent many years doing so many simple and complex projects on our own, searching for answers online but many times, we could not find the answers we were looking for. We’ve learned so much (and made a few mistakes on the way). We want to share what we’ve learned (and the mistakes so you don’t make the same ones) to help you gain the confidence you need to do it yourself. We find so much satisfaction in the creations we have made and knowing we did it on our own!! If that sounds like something you are looking to gain some knowledge in and sounds like fun, follow along!! We have so much to share and can’t wait to get started!!!
